U of A – Cardiac Unit

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

A project that has been in the works now for a few years in now all wrapped up.  I was asked to create three paintings that were uplifting and warm feeling, based on specific dimensions for placement in the Cardiac Unit of the University of Alberta Hospital.  After a few rounds of sketches and discussion I painted these three beauties.[soliloquy id="1114"]

University of Alberta, Student Law Services

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

Here is a illustration that I worked on for the University of Alberta, Student Law Services.  A Faculty memeber was retiring and they wanted to give him a present that would represent all his career in law.   They also wanted others associated with the Law Faculty to enjoy the piece and so prints are available for order at Vivid Print.

Student Legal Services of Edmonton (SLS) is a student-managed, non-profit society dedicated to helping low-income individuals with access to justice in Edmonton since 1969. For the last 45 years, student volunteers from UAlberta Law have provided free legal information and agency in the courts to those who would otherwise be unable to afford these services. SLS provides assistance in the areas of civil, criminal and family law, and offers community outreach in legal education and research assistance to non-profit organizations, although for other cases like injury issues, the use of services as a New York personal injury lawyer is a best option for this. You can also consider the company of our friends where divorce attorney will help solve your problems.

In addition to providing low-income Edmontonians with pro-bono legal advice on this website, SLS also enables students to gain valuable, hands-on experience working with real clients, while at the same time mastering their legal skills and building their professional resumes.

Varscona Theatre

By Client, Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

Last year I had presented a number of my prints at the Varscona Theatre for an upcoming show the took place in Edmonton.  In addition, the opening night they were announcing that they received the funding to renovate the theatre in order to provide more space and additional rooms for all the theatre companies that are operating out the cramped older building.  As I was putting up the show, they asked me if I would be interested in painting the theatre as it is now.  It is something that they wanted to keep a piece of the old theatre around and used it as a promotional piece, as well as, a piece that prints could be sold of.  I was totally in!  So here is the final result, you can order prints through the Varscona Theatre!

Idea Exploration

By News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

Several years ago friends of mine commissioned me to paint both their children’s bedrooms.  It was super fun and one of the ideas that we started with was a solar system theme for the boys room.  We eventually moved on from that idea, but I was left with these sketches that I thought were fun and my mind has wondered back to it a couple of times, and of course it has evolved a few times since then.  Here are 3 further explorations on the idea of animals exploring space, I figured they would need to take time for exercise 🙂

Bermuda Festival

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

A new music festival is starting up this summer in Edmonton, it is called The Bermuda Festival.  I was contacted by one of the organizers and was asked to provide a painting on canvas for the festival.  These paintings that local artists are creating are going to be used for the promotional posters for the different music venues that they have.  Then they are going to auction off the paintings for the artists.  The theme was sharks, and this was what I came up with.

Golf Commisson

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

In the spring I completed a Commission for  a gent, who wanted a special gift for his parents who are members of a Golf and Country Club in Calgary.  I was super happy to oblige.  I got some images from him of his parents and I set off to gather images of the golf course. Read best golf balls for beginners if you are just starting out in golf,  That is where I ran into trouble, the website has views of the greens and some really obstructed views of the club house, so I elected to contact the Country Club.  Well you would have never assumed that it would take 2-3 emails and an phone call over a month in order to get some basic photos of the club house.  At first she did not want to share any with me, it was not until I shared the name of my client that she realized I was legit and that his father was a previous president of the board, and was forth coming with the photos.  Later I realized that I could just go onto Google maps and almost see 360Deg using the street view… sigh.  The end result was was great, rich colours, a bit of mountains in the background.  They were really pleased, which is always a great ending.

Hey all, long time no post.  I have lots to show you it is probably too much for this one post so I am going to do it over a few.

I had a show in March at SNAP Gallery.  I have mentioned before but I lost the post during a hick up with word press.  Ah the wonders of the digital age when things just go poof!!!  Anyways it was a fun to have the show and it was awesome to see everyone out for the opening night.  Here are some pictures of the show as it was up.

Some pictures of my booth set up at Artwalk in July on whyte ave. And some pictures of my Wooden Animal Spirits on display at The Paint Spot.

I also found this cool little video from the nice folks at The Edmontonian.  It is rather old but really neat to see!!!
