I created these fun retro hockey themed prints for a great Lady for her husbands Man Cave. I think it was a mix of her taste and his room. The original idea came from the different prints that you briefly see in the Budweiser Redlight commercial. We designed them so that they can have the team strips customized to the colours of your favorite team. You can order them on Etsy here.
Not too long ago I was asked by the Crisis Center here in Edmonton to donate something for their fundraiser. Rather than donate an Edmonton print, I thought it would be nicer if I could offer something a bit more personal, which would add more value to whom ever would be bidding on the item. So I offered a Digital commission. The lucky winner, wanted to do an illustration of the neighborhood that her future husband and her lived in as a wedding gift to him. This is what we came up with.
I was contacted to do a non-traditional family portrait for a Mothers Day present. She wanted a very special place in Calgary AB that they walk their family dog to be represented, along with the family. She was not all that interested in having the family upfront and center, rather deciding to have them within the environment doing what they love to do.
In the spring I completed a Commission for a gent, who wanted a special gift for his parents who are members of a Golf and Country Club in Calgary. I was super happy to oblige. I got some images from him of his parents and I set off to gather images of the golf course. Read best golf balls for beginners if you are just starting out in golf, That is where I ran into trouble, the website has views of the greens and some really obstructed views of the club house, so I elected to contact the Country Club. Well you would have never assumed that it would take 2-3 emails and an phone call over a month in order to get some basic photos of the club house. At first she did not want to share any with me, it was not until I shared the name of my client that she realized I was legit and that his father was a previous president of the board, and was forth coming with the photos. Later I realized that I could just go onto Google maps and almost see 360Deg using the street view… sigh. The end result was was great, rich colours, a bit of mountains in the background. They were really pleased, which is always a great ending.
So I was contacted a while ago by these incredibly hip people that wanted me to design up their wedding invitation, along with the RSVP. This is what we came up with! Their wedding is out in the mountains just up my ally after working on the Going Camping series. I used a bear to symbolize his strength and a deer for her grace. I drew from inspiration from the colour palette for the wedding venues weatherford and vintage patches. Since they both love music so much and that they regularly play guitar hero, I thought it would be a fun to illustrate them party rocking out for the back of the RSVP. Congrats to Tim and Erika, all the best (and sunny weather) on your big day!!
