By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

A project that has been in the works now for a few years in now all wrapped up.  I was asked to create three paintings that were uplifting and warm feeling, based on specific dimensions for placement in the Cardiac Unit of the University of Alberta Hospital.  After a few rounds of sketches and discussion I painted these three beauties.[soliloquy id="1114"]

I had friends recently ask me to make a illustrate a image for their soon to be born son.  They wanted their favorite animals represented, foxes, owls and wolves.  I thought it best fitting to have the illustration set at night with a full moon for the wolf to howl at, owl to hoot, and foxes to be tucked away in a den.

University of Alberta, Student Law Services

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

Here is a illustration that I worked on for the University of Alberta, Student Law Services.  A Faculty memeber was retiring and they wanted to give him a present that would represent all his career in law.   They also wanted others associated with the Law Faculty to enjoy the piece and so prints are available for order at Vivid Print.

Student Legal Services of Edmonton (SLS) is a student-managed, non-profit society dedicated to helping low-income individuals with access to justice in Edmonton since 1969. For the last 45 years, student volunteers from UAlberta Law have provided free legal information and agency in the courts to those who would otherwise be unable to afford these services. SLS provides assistance in the areas of civil, criminal and family law, and offers community outreach in legal education and research assistance to non-profit organizations, although for other cases like injury issues, the use of services as a New York personal injury lawyer is a best option for this. You can also consider the company of our friends where divorce attorney will help solve your problems.

In addition to providing low-income Edmontonians with pro-bono legal advice on this website, SLS also enables students to gain valuable, hands-on experience working with real clients, while at the same time mastering their legal skills and building their professional resumes.

Varscona Theatre

Last year I had presented a number of my prints at the Varscona Theatre for an upcoming show the took place in Edmonton.  In addition, the opening night they were announcing that they received the funding to renovate the theatre in order to provide more space and additional rooms for all the theatre companies that are operating out the cramped older building.  As I was putting up the show, they asked me if I would be interested in painting the theatre as it is now.  It is something that they wanted to keep a piece of the old theatre around and used it as a promotional piece, as well as, a piece that prints could be sold of.  I was totally in!  So here is the final result, you can order prints through the Varscona Theatre!

Pre-Christmas I was asked to do an illustration of the UofAs Engineering and Technology Learning Centre, as the clients son was a graduate of engineering and now was living away from home working on a new bitcoin startup for buying and selling bitcoin online you can buy bitcoin here. The building represented a lot of memories and the achievements the young man. It was a quick turn around job, as it was to be completed before Christmas, so working digitally was appropriate for that deadline and with the budget.

Prairie style home

Prairie House

Prairie House

I was contacted by a local Architect last fall about painting a home that he had recently purchased. The house is on 102 ave and was the home of a well known architect, who also designed the Downtown Canada Post office. Sadly that post office has now been torn down for the new Provincial Museum which is being constructed. Some buildings stay and some go, but I am glad that this home will be persevered by some one that appreciates the historical and stylistic significance. The new homeowner spent some time and cleared some the grounds and added a Prairie garden, that is maintained with services from sites as https://legionlandscaping.com, the garden being a feature that really suits the prairie house style indicative of Frank Lloyd Wrights famous home design, full of layers of long horizontal lines. One of the new homeowners plans is to through a fresh coat of paint on it and give the facade a more modern update, while staying true the the characteristics of the design. So I was asked to paint the trim gray and add golden wood panels. So this is a result of our efforts in preserving local architectural history!

Snow Valley painting and posters

A couple of months ago, a fella named Brandon gave me a call to say that Snow Valley was looking to have a painting done.  So I followed up with him and the team there and I am happy to say we have complete three great images.  One is a commemorative painting of Snow Valley, and two vintage ski inspired posters of the fun that can be had there.  You can purchase the poster at the SnowValley shop, when you go there for your own fun! Thanks again to the team at Snow Valley for the opportunity to add my twist on another Edmonton icon.

A wonderful couple and now proud parents, asked me a little while ago to design a illustration to be painted on a wall in their soon to be born child’s room.  They wanted it to be based on my Going Camping series, especially the one with the mountain sheep, will incorporating their favorite mountain view.  It was a really easy process and in the end I provided them with a print, swatch map and over transparencies that they could use to trace it onto the wall.  The result was fantastic they did such a great job on the painting while preparing for the little fella coming!

Bermuda Festival

By Commission, News, Paintings, Uncategorized No Comments

A new music festival is starting up this summer in Edmonton, it is called The Bermuda Festival.  I was contacted by one of the organizers and was asked to provide a painting on canvas for the festival.  These paintings that local artists are creating are going to be used for the promotional posters for the different music venues that they have.  Then they are going to auction off the paintings for the artists.  The theme was sharks, and this was what I came up with.
